Frequently Asked Questions

What should my home CCTV system show?

The system should show all access points. In most cases these would be the front door, driveway and the rear entrances. We will advise you of the areas that should be covered on our initial site visit.

Can I view the camera images when I am away from my home?

Yes it is possible to view the system with any computer as long as you have a good quality broadband connection, preferably not dial up, we can even connect direct images from your cameras to certain mobile phones.

What will I see at night with my camera system?

All camera systems show images perfectly well after dark, but the best possible images are achieved using black and white. The cameras installed incorporate a technology to change automatically from colour during the day to black and white at night. All cameras used will incorporate infra red lighting but if this is not sufficient we can advise on additional lighting.

How much will it cost to protect my home and family?

The cost will vary according to the size of your home and the features you want. We constantly monitor the ever changing market of CCTV products to offer value for money without compromise in quality. A full, no obligation, quotation will be submitted after an initial site survey. Typically our systems cost between £2,500 and £3,500.

What are the legal/data protection issues relating to domestic CCTV systems?

"The Data Protection Act does not apply to individuals' private or household purposes. So if you install a camera on your own home to protect it from burglary, the Act will not apply".
- Information Commissioner's Office. (www.ico.gov.uk/for_organisations/topic_specific_guides/cctv.aspx)

If legislation relating to domestic CCTVs changes we will discuss this with you at the initial site survey.

How long does the installation take?

The installation time always depends on the property; we pride ourselves in concealing cables where possible, and ensure that all work is carried out in a professional and tidy manner. We always advise the homeowner of how and where cables will be run before installation commences. We do not use wireless camera systems as they can be very unreliable. Most of our installations are completed within two to three days.

What happens if something goes wrong?

All systems are installed to a very high standard but sometimes things can go wrong. We offer free 24 hour support for the first year and after this period an annual maintenance contract will be offered without obligation. We recognise the importance of having your system fully operational at all times and, in the event of a problem, will make its repair a priority task.
